THE ICE CREAM MAN!! 

 I couldn't believe what I heard, a sound from my past 

I yelled for the kids and took the money from the glass.

It was coming up the road, the music so clear,

I said hurry up now, he’s almost here!

My kids looked surprised and I couldn’t explain,

How excited I was, over a truck with ice cream!

Pictures of popsicles, fudge bars and more,

We waited patiently, as he opened the door.
A Push Up for her, an Bomb pop for me
“Oh, what the heck, just make it three!”
With a giggle of a child, I was 10 again,
Playing jump rope and laughing with friends.
Always saving my money for the ice cream man,
Until the day, he never came again.
Funny how a memory can take you back,
To the smell of the air and where you were at.
So my kids know now what that sounds means,
And they save their money, to buy ice cream.
We yell through the house, when the truck is near,
Hurry up! He’s almost here!!!!
